Christian Spencer is an Australian artist and photographer who has been living in Rio de Janeiro. One day while standing on his verandah he noticed that the black Jacobin hummingbirds flying around produced a magical prism effect when the sun struck its open wings. The array of beautiful colors was created when the light of the sun diffracted through the wings. He decided to try and photograph this and eventually turned them into a series he titled Winged Prism.
